PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Deliver exceptional customer service in the Center Store (Grocery) Department. Ensure that the standard practice manual is followed to maintain standards, increase sales and minimize shrinkage.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Foster an environment that exudes a passion for understanding customer needs, placing immense value on swift, convivial, and precise interactions to generate a delightful shopping encounter
• Demonstrating politeness and being supportive towards colleagues
• When restocking, it is important to use a damp cloth to clean shelves and shelf tag moldings as necessary
• Keep shelf organization intact by ensuring that items are restocked from one tag to another
• Only display items that can be sold on the shelves
• It is essential to follow the policies and guidelines while carrying out activities related to ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning, and displaying of items
• Utilize essential tools provided by the company, such as the average cost inventory system (ACIS) and ordering systems (CAO)
• Ensure that you have a comprehensive comprehension of the company guidelines, policies, and standard practices, and strictly follow them
• Follow the necessary Food Safety and Workplace Safety recommendations to ensure a secure and hygienic work environment
• Be vigilant and take corrective action against any unsafe situations that could lead to accidents for associates or customers
• Notify the Manager on Duty of any incidents involving customers or personnel, and follow Food Lion's procedures for reporting accidents
• Make sure to abide by all rules and regulations set by local, state, and federal authorities for better compliance
• In order to perform your job duties for Food Lion, it is expected that you will don the company's uniform and accompanying name badge
• Successfully pass the courses of Computer Based Training (CBT), Training Packet and Training Aid
• Execute any additional responsibilities as directed

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Possessing a high school diploma or its equivalent is preferred
• Superb communication skills, organizational flair, customer-centric approach, and outstanding interpersonal capabilities
• Demonstrating proficiency in a wide range of job tasks and technical skills, and being eager to acquire new ones, is crucial for success in this role
• Utilizing technical knowledge to troubleshoot and resolve issues is a valuable skill in today's fast-paced and dynamic workplace
• The job duties require meeting a certain age criteria to ensure efficient and safe performance
• The candidate must be able to fulfill the physical demands of the job, whether or not they require reasonable accommodations

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• The job demands proficiency in operating computer systems and other channels of communication
• Engage in recurrent actions of hands and arms
• Continuously lift items weighing up to 15 lbs while bending, lift up to 25 lbs frequently, and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
• Occasionally lift and move loads up to 75 lbs. by pushing or pulling
• The skill to operate a pallet jack and move loads weighing up to 2000 pounds
• Remain standing constantly, moving short distances frequently
• Possess the ability to manage an assortment of materials linked with the upkeep and wrapping of products, newly picked fruits, veggies, potted plants/flowers, and cleansing agents utilized within households
• Constant use of hands is required to manage cash and operate different devices, including cash registers and computers
• Reaching and grabbing objects at waist height is a common occurrence, with occasional movements occurring above the shoulder or below the waist
• Consistently achieve the predetermined volume targets required for the job role
• Capable of withstanding working conditions in extreme temperatures, experiencing bursts of hot or cold environments for up to 20 minutes
• Possessing adequate visual acuity to verify identification cards, checks, invoices, and other written materials
