PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Deliver exceptional customer service by adhering to the guidelines of the Perishable Department's standard practice manual. Minimize losses and maximize sales through the provision of expert guidance and advice to customers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Focus on creating a positive shopping experience for customers by displaying an upbeat and enthusiastic customer-centric attitude with fast, friendly, and precise customer service skills
• Displaying politeness and kindness towards fellow colleagues
• Grasp the concept and implementation of the average cost inventory system (ACIS) as well as the ordering function (CAO) of the company's tools
• Get incoming shipments, categorize them and assign codes to them if necessary, then arrange them in their respective storage places
• Make sure that the policies and guidelines for ordering, receiving, preparing, conditioning, and displaying merchandise are adhered to
• It is crucial to ensure that all sections of the Perishable Department, such as meat, frozen, dairy, ice cream, and lunchmeat, have sufficient merchandise to satisfy customer demands
• Follow the prescribed production procedure to handle beef and grind them accordingly, as per the production tool
• Fulfill customer's needs by wrapping, labeling, weighing, and restocking the meat case as required or requested
• Be prepared to put together, take apart and sanitize the grinder as required or when directed
• It is essential to maintain a clean and germ-free environment in your department, which can be achieved by ensuring proper cleaning and sanitation practices are followed
• Ensuring consistency in styles and presentation formats is crucial to maintaining high standards
• Make sure that all marketing and promotional materials pertaining to the department are effectively employed
• Keep yourself fully acquainted with the company procedures, policies, and best practices and strictly follow them
• Adhere to the policies and protocols for Workplace Safety and Food Safety to guarantee a safe and healthy work environment
• Monitor and rectify any hazardous situations that may lead to harm to employees or clients
• Notify the Manager on Duty about any incidents involving associates or customers as per the standard procedures of Food Lion
• Adhere to all regulations at the local, state, and federal levels to avoid any legal or financial repercussions
• Make sure to don the Food Lion attire, including your name tag, while working and maintain a well-groomed and tidy appearance that conforms to the company's dress policy
• Excel in the completion of computer-based training (CBT), training packet, and training aid courses
• Execute any additional responsibilities that are designated

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Preferred candidates for the job should have completed high school or equivalent level of education
• Exceptional abilities in communication, customer service, organization, and interpersonal skills
• Capacity and eagerness to acquire knowledge in diverse duties and necessary technological competencies for the position
• Having the competency to utilize technical data to resolve dilemmas is an essential skill
• Meeting the minimum age requirements is an essential criterion for carrying out certain job duties effectively and safely
• The candidate is expected to fulfill the physical requirements of the job, with or without accommodations

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• The job necessitates the use of various technological advancements, including computer systems and communication devices, to carry out assigned duties effectively
• Execute recurrent actions of hand and arm movements
• Continuously handle items that weigh 15 pounds by bending and lifting them
• Occasionally handle material weighing up to 75 pounds by pulling or pushing
• Capability to move loads weighing up to 2000 pounds with the aid of a pallet jack
• Must remain standing throughout the day, with brief walks from time to time
• Capable of dealing with different types of materials linked with cleaning, preserving, and packing goods, fresh fruits, veggies, houseplants/flowers, as well as cleaning products
• Repeatedly extending arms to grab objects at the level of the waist, sometimes reaching above the shoulder or below the waistline
• Achieve the stated performance goals for the position regarding volume tasks
• Be able to withstand working in exceptionally high or low temperatures for up to twenty minutes consecutively
• Must possess suitable visual acuity to examine identification proofs, financial transactions, and other written instruments
