Job Description
Position Purpose:
The utmost care is given to patrons as the assistant crafts and sells specialized sliced deli products, food platters, take-out cold meals, hot dishes, and salads.
Duties and Obligations:
Advocates for the customer service programs of the Champions Company and Division to achieve Division customer service objectives. Demonstrates a positive approach in dealing with customer interactions, incorporating successful resolution of grievances. Encourages the adoption of personalized service beliefs set forth by Albertson's in the service deli.
Creates an environment of enthusiastic customer awareness through prompt and courteous customer service. Utilizes various sales strategies such as suggestive selling via in-store intercom and personal interaction with customers.
It is essential to place an order for products to ensure there is enough stock to meet customer demand and maintain the quality and freshness of the merchandise.
Carries out duties related to receiving, which involve relocating products from the receiving section, ensuring that the refrigeration is done immediately, organizing cooler and storage areas, maintaining appropriate storage temperatures, cross-checking orders with invoices, submitting complaints over deficits and claims to facilitate proper billing, and observing code dating policies while rotating products to maintain freshness.
Adopts appropriate and effective methods for product preparation and packaging. Operates and utilizes various kitchen equipment, including knives, fryers, ovens (conventional and microwave), slicers, grills, food processors, wrappers and scales. Ensures sandwiches, cold and hot foods, and food/party platters are prepared in accordance with company guidelines. Wears appropriate gloves, such as safety, latex and heat resistance gloves.
Ensures that the deli case is kept spotlessly clean while keeping it visually attractive and ensuring that inventory levels are optimal. It is their responsibility to ensure the safety of the work environment, as well as maintaining a proper temperature and sanitation standard for the deli area and its equipment.
Accountable for fulfilling all the necessary requirements regarding sanitation and safety protocols for the handling of food and goods.
Responsible for executing all work responsibilities with safety, precision, and ethical conduct.

Possessing the skill of being amicable, polite, and exhibiting diplomacy in handling both clients and colleagues while retaining composure.
Proficient oral communication and recipe comprehension skills are necessary.
Capability to operate hand trucks, six-wheel carts, and pallet jacks while they are fully loaded, by exerting force to move them in a desired direction.
Regularly handles, raises, arranges, and manages items with varying sizes and loads weighing around 55lbs. Consistently performs activities such as slicing, cutting, and preparing various deli items that require repetitive arm movements.
The job requires being able to stand for extended periods, move quickly and bend, twist, and stoop frequently. It also calls for good hand-eye coordination, and manual dexterity. The use of various utensils and equipment in the kitchen is also a requirement.
Maintaining a focused and sharp mental state is pivotal to ensure the accomplishment of work tasks with safety and precision. One must possess a fundamental understanding of math, weights, and measures. The individual must also have the capability to familiarize themselves with the essence, composition, and lifetime of goods, in addition to complying with safety protocols and procedural codes within the department.
The possibility of working during non-traditional hours such as nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays may exist. The specific hours of work will not remain constant. To maintain a good work record, consistent attendance is crucial.

Work Environment:
The job presents an element of danger as there is a possibility of encountering hazards that are linked to cooking techniques as well as the tools used to carry out those techniques.
The temperature can rise as high as 350 degrees Fahrenheit when cooking and preserving food items. When handling items in hot cases, individuals might come across temperatures reaching approximately 140 degrees Fahrenheit, while temperatures can be as low as 35 degrees Fahrenheit while managing items in cold cases. When dealing with things in a cooler, temperatures might be around 28 degrees Fahrenheit, and when handling goods in the freezer, the temperature drops to as low as -20 degrees Fahrenheit.
The store environment is kept at an optimal temperature for the comfort of workers.
