PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Our commitment to our esteemed customers is to render swift, effortless, adaptable, and courteous service while meeting the standards of Food Lion. As part of our mission, we work closely with the Customer Service Manager and the Assistant Customer Service Manager to maintain the Front End Standard Practice Manual and deliver outstanding customer service that maximizes sales and meets customers' needs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Offer prompt, precise and pleasant service to all customers, while maintaining an engaging conversation that creates a positive shopping experience
• Use the customer's name upfront when greeting them, as it helps establish a connection and put them at ease
• It's essential to avoid having confidential conversations with your coworkers when customers are present
• Accurate and timely completion of store office duties can be achieved by utilizing the accounting packets, and any discrepancies in the cash amount must be conveyed to the Assistant Customer Service Manager without delay
• Make sure that you are knowledgeable about the internal operating procedures and systems used in the office, such as cash reports, register audits, deposits, Western Union transfers, money orders, and Coinstar payments
• Maintain a clean and organized work station and front end area to ensure a polished presentation for the store
• Maintains proficiency in all aspects of sales associates' register functions and accounting services
• Efficiently report any register issues to the Customer Service Manager, or in the absence of the MOD, initiate timely service calls
• Keeping the MVP savings center KIOSK stocked with paper and functioning properly is crucial for meeting the needs of clients
• Follows the guidelines of the surge plan to undertake the duties of a sales associate when designated or required
• Assumes the responsibility of the customer lead whenever necessary, in order to ensure that the desired service standards are met
• Be watchful and ask for help as necessary to satisfy customers in compliance with the established service protocols
• Cultivating an attitude of respect and support for peers is vital for promoting teamwork and collaboration
• While on duty, it is essential to wear the Food Lion uniform and identification badge, maintain a neat and clean appearance, and adhere to the Food Lion dress code to reflect professionalism
• It is imperative to comply with the company's guidelines, policies, and standard practices at all times
• Pay attention to and remedy any unsafe conditions that could lead to accidents involving associates or customers
• Let the quality control department know if there are any cleaning issues or maintenance requirements that should be addressed in the front-end area
• It is imperative to finish the training aids and computer based training (CBT) courses
• Comply with any other obligations given to you

QUALIFICATIONS:

• We prefer candidates who have completed high school or have achieved a similar level of education
• Having effective communication and customer service skills enables employees to provide top-notch services that exceed their customers' expectations
• The capability and readiness to gain proficiency in multiple tasks and technical aspects of the role
• An individual working as a cashier or in a service center must possess the necessary technical know-how to perform their duties efficiently
• Fulfilling specific minimum age prerequisites is crucial for carrying out job functions
• The applicant should be able to perform the physical duties of the position, with or without necessary adjustments

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Competence in handling computers and other communication systems is a must-have skill to execute job functions
• Execute repetitive actions involving the extremities
• Perform regular bending and lifting tasks for products weighing up to 15 lbs., and frequently handle products weighing up to 25 lbs., and occasionally maneuver items weighing 50 lbs
• From time to time, it may be necessary to move an item of up to 75 pounds by pushing or pulling
• Avoid sitting and stay on your feet, moving around every once in a while
• Able to manage various items related to cleaning and packing materials, freshly grown fruits and vegetables, houseplants, and cleaning agents used in households
• Constant handling of money, both paper and coins, and the operation of equipment like cash registers, scanners, computers, and calculators, are integral to this job
• Regularly stretching and gripping objects at the height of the waist, with sporadic instances of going beyond the shoulder or beneath the waist
• Attain the prescribed volume of work required for this role within the set timeframe
• Possess the ability to withstand harsh climatic conditions for up to 20 minutes without any difficulty
• To examine identification cards, invoices, and other written documents, it is important to have satisfactory visual capability
• Rearrangement of Bottles: Empty bottles and containers should be shifted from the front portion to the back of the store
