POSITION PURPOSE:
The CDL Driver holds essential functions that revolve around conducting pre and post trip inspections on their vehicle, using their expertise in safe and effective loading/unloading techniques, and effectively operating tractor/trailer/yard truck/straight truck equipment. Their role also requires verifying paperwork accuracy and completeness, confirming the correct number of cases in an order, unloading and delivering products with the aid of specialized equipment such as load bars, pallet jacks, ramps and other devices, maintaining DOT compliance and respecting Federal, state and local regulations, while communicating with customers and vendors in a professional manner to ensure timely delivery.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Be sure to obtain the route paperwork, truck and trailer assignment, and any relevant instructions prior to beginning the journey.
- Ensure that any defects, concerns or issues with the tractor and/or trailer are properly documented and reported on the DVIR.
- Ensure compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations by conducting inspections before, during, and after trips according to 49 C.F.R. § 396.11 to identify and address any safety concerns.
- Make sure the load is arranged in a way that ensures it is evenly distributed and balanced, creating even weight distribution that contributes to safer transportation.
- Ensure that the lights on the trailer are functional and properly connected to the tractor to avoid any accidents or fines.
- To comply with state regulations and ensure the safety of your load, consider trailer type and gross weight when scaling. If the load is not properly balanced, adjust as required.
- The route plan should be followed diligently to meet the pickup and delivery requirements of each store.
- Meet the terms of the contract by conducting thorough store decontaminations. Round up and transfer different kinds of objects, e.g., unmarketable products, valuable holdings, consumer restitutions, organic wastes, compactor bundles, and egg boxes, for shipment to the main hub when applicable.
- Alert of any unforeseen circumstances such as accidents, emergencies or natural disasters that can disrupt the route plan.
- Confirm that the cargo is secured throughout the entire delivery route.
- Ensure that all essential documentation is completed correctly and validate that appropriate temperatures are maintained.
- Consistently adhere to DOT and FMCSA regulations 49 C.F.R. § 395.8 and 49 C.F.R. § 395.11 when logging hours of service, by utilizing an electronic logging device (ELD) to record and report the data precisely, and by certifying the log's overall accuracy at the end of each day.
- Be timely and energized for your allocated routes, having taken enough rest to be alert and able to undertake driving and work tasks.
- Make a record of any defects or anxieties with the truck/tractor and/or trailer in the Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR).
Successful execution of tasks necessitates the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers
- Having an understanding of the principles and processes for offering customer and personal services, comprising of conducting customer needs assessments, adhering to service quality standards, and gauging customer satisfaction.
- Snow Chain Usage: The ability to put on snow chains and drive in snowy or slippery conditions when compelled to do so.
- Understanding the proper methods and steps for checking and refilling fluid and fuel levels is crucial.
- Comprehension of FMCSA regulations, including those related to hours of service, is a critical component of professional commercial driving and a vital factor in ensuring the safety of all road users.
- Professionalism, traffic regulations, and positive company representation are the cornerstones of safely operating commercial vehicles.

- Planning a route with knowledge: designing a travel route with a deep understanding of the locations and areas is key to successful navigation.

Physical Demands
- Stay put in a chair for a significant amount of time.
- Maneuver mechanical machines including pallet jacks and tractor trailers.
- Climb the available ramps and stairs to enter or exit the tractor and trailer.
- Consistently able to lift items weighing approximately 35 pounds.
- The proficiency to lift items that weigh up to 100 pounds from time to time.
- It is possible to transport pallets that weigh up to 3000 lbs. through the use of either a manual or electric pallet jack.
- Ability to engage in movements like crawling, crouching, kneeling, or stooping, as needed.
- Retrieve boxes from pallets that are up to six feet above by extending your arms and reaching up.
Working Conditions
- Be willing to work at different times of the day in order to complete the work.
- Be willing to work late into the night as needed.
- Staff members working in a potentially hazardous environment must wear safety gear, including but not limited to steel-toed boots and slip-resistant shoes to protect themselves.

- Execute duties in settings where there is a shaking object or surface present, causing a strain on the body or extremities.
